MessageI would say, without a doubt, that use of electronic devices has some effect on our evolution. However, what that effect may be is not as clear-cut. Some people use technology as a way to escape the real world, to find something external that makes them feel stimulated. Others use technology to connect with the rest of the world and to broaden their minds. I would guess that the average westerner does both of these things to some extent. Without a doubt, playing video games for twelve hours straight is going to waste some serious energy and create tons of stagnation. Connecting with actual people through meetup sites and social media (used in moderation) probably doesn't.
On a side note, if I ever need cheering up, I sometimes watch the old video of a chimpanzee washing a cat on youtube (see below). This has never left me feeling drained.
