MessageI think what he's trying to say is that
1. Reality is not just thinking/an idea
This is his indestructible example. You can think you
are indestructible, but if you step in front of a moving
semi, the actual experience tells you otherwise.
Note: Other examples providing less self-harm might prove useful here ;)
2. Reality is more than just experience
If you experience something (say in a dream state), that doesn't
make it reality. Outside observers must corroborate your experience.
THIS EXTRA STEP SEPARATES REALITY FROM DELUSION.
In summary, Reality = Experience + Outside Corroboration
Of course, not everything that we experience and consider part of
our reality do we independently verify as being "real". For
instance, if I see a blue jay singing on a tree, I typically
consider that part of reality, even though I have not gone to
get outside corroboration that it really exists. However,
I also see no reason as to why it would not be corroborated,
so I *assume* it to be true.
Thus, while de jure,
Reality = Experience + Outside Corroboration
De facto: Reality = Experience + PROBABLE Outside Corroboration
