MessageHi Adel,
As you probably already know, qigong and inner alchemy is always "in process", so just align your will, focus your intention and then let it go into the lifeforce through practice.
Spending about a year doing the fundamentals and fusion is good if practiced regularly, then by all means, go onto Kan and Li which is really the core method of One Cloud's system.
I am not clear on the process but addiction is regulated through the liver (process of transformation) while the spleen sets boundaries and can go into obsessive-compulsiveness when deficient or in excess. Cigarette smoking affects the lungs (gain and loss) which are connected to the large intestine as Steven has said.
A good source for herbs is "dragonherbs.com", they have a senior herbalist that does free consultations on the phone, and the founder has published a good book on herbs for which you can learn more about them.
Taking them for 5 days then stopping for the weekend seems to work for me to give the body a rest. Two good formulations that come to mind are gynostemma tea for the contraction in the large intestine, and Bupleurum and Dragonbone for the addictive habits.
Your observations are the best method of how you are affected by qigong and herbs, so just being consistent will produce results of some kind.
