While at Lesser Kan & Li last week, Minke de Vos mentioned that some cyclists in SanFrancisco (Cal. US) do the orbit while cycling, aiding them in getting up the monstrous hills of that city. I'm a commuting cyclist, so thought I'd give it a try.
Starting out, I watched my legs revolve and the first image that came to me was of 2 planetary bodies running the microcosmic orbit - left leg revolution corresponding to sun, right leg revolution to moon - or, when the sun is at the crown, the moon is at the perineum. I decided to go with the imagery and see how it felt. I had a great ride, and several after that as well. I also noted that the breathing rhythm added another 'harmonic' to the orbit; a slower paced but also deeper harmonic - maybe best described as a sub-harmonic - as the sun and moon were revolving fairly quickly. The overall feeling was very electric and easy to maintain. I'm not terribly visual, mostly kinaesthetic and sound-oriented, so I noticed the harmonic orbit primarily as a pleasant sense of a current flowing and a type of body-toning.
Grist for the mill...
