In the future we'll all be wearing the same color jumpsuit and ever thing will be covered with chrome.

The chase for physical immortality has given Taoism in general and alchemical taoism in particular a horrible image. From hundreds of years ago where it killed off an emperor or two and many pactitioners looking for external formulas. Internal alchemy is step up, but if a group or process is promising eternal life, then I have longevity ring to sell you.

I paged through a book on someone who interviewed mountain hermit taoists. They were in good shape, very thin, living on subsistance diets, they were nice, but if you expected them to have super powers or exteme insights, you would be gravely mistaken.

My next door neighbor, Brock Silvers worked in China restoring monasteries. The taoist he worked with were very religious people. We have about zero in common with them. None would consider us anything remotely close to taoists.

The extemists of all colors, in all nations, who give 110% every day from childhood, get old and die. Hopefully they live long healthy enlightened lives, but they are neccessarily living longer then your neighbor.

But there is an immortality available within the Now, or so I am told. Its not physical immortality, but a connection to the reality of being where time doesn't matter and age and death are a gift.

The now doesn't end in the future, it cruises along, always now. Planning the future is fine, but is secondary to enjoying the now.

For me that is mostly intellectualization, but I'm working on it. It is a long life, and there is time enough for everything.

Yada yada yad

Peace

Michael
