The Bodhi Tree is kind of a landmark among new-age book stores here in Los Angeles, as it's been around since 1970. It's a bookstore I have visited many times over the period of my life. But it had been sometime since I had been back. We got there early because parking can be a problem in that area.

As soon as I walked into the bookstore in the magazine/incense section was Mantak Chia, looking at a Qi magazine. I was kind of excited and realized immediately that he is quite approachable. But I didn't say anything or introduce myself. But I did notice a simple direct energy about him, almost understated.

About 30 min's later we made our way to the lecture room and waited for the talk to begin.

My initial feeling was correct about him. He talked about the organs and went though about 20 min's of guided inner smile meditation. He spoke about him being a christian and made a few comparisons regarding christian sin and the nature of good/bad. He really is quite funny at time, but very light hearted and engaging to listen and follow. His english can be a little hard understand at time though.

After the guided inner smile he sat down and Dena Saxer took the stand. I found her to be very grounded and easy to listen too. She spoke about the new book (which reading the posts here is kind of like a revised version of an older book which I already have). Anyway she focused on the healing sounds. All of the practices and things they spoke about was like review for me, but very refreshing from another perspective.

I was very glad I got a chance to see Mantak Chia after all these years. He looks quite young a vibrant.

The whole event lasted about 1 1/2 hours.

Damon.
