MessageHi Steven,
Nice discussion!
I just wanted to interject and express what I feel has truth in this statement that you find so compelling regarding joy after death.
There is a parallel to life as in space and time, where as the more present you are to the moment the more you are eternally aware.
Another wards being more deeply aware of the present pierces though the concept of time (which gives you the sense that you are going to die physical) In a sense we are already beyond this physical life and can validate that feeling though a deeper awareness of the moment.
I would also like to say that I understand what David (bagua) is saying about the ego (which maybe what you express as your smaller self).
The mind can take us away from these realities, but at the same time can be transparent as well as you clearly express you are aware of.
Also
You as How, I am curious as to what exactly you mean. Do you mean how as in a mental answer that will satisfy your mind or do you mean how in some more subtle way that is beyond mind and if so would you be able to articulate this?
In fun,
Damon.
