steaming without Kan and LiFrom: jade bamboo

i have sort of weird question... is it ok to do the steaming without doing the Kan and Li meditation? i don't know much about it. i have gone through fusion 1 so far... i read in one of Chia's books (cosmic healing chi kung to be exact) that you can steam the jing in your testicles by sending fire energy from the lower Dan Tien to the testicles and imagine that the sun heats the water (that is the jing) and creates steam which is collected in the the lower Dan Tien. i don't know if this was taken out of the Kan and Li and does it requires any special energetic capacities...
