Projecting stress into inanimate objectsFrom: Steven

MessageHaven't been too active on the list recently--I'm
currently preparing to take a pretty big exam in
my graduate program. It's one that I'll be taking
next week Tuesday, and is one that has been hovering
over my head for about two years . . .
At any rate, I have some "spooky" phenomena to share--and
I'm dead serious about this. It's not an April Fool's joke.
1. Toward the end of last year, while driving to NC
to unwind from some stress, my vehicle overheats (ended up
missing a workshop!)
I take my vehicle in to get it fixed. It's a "vapor lock";
air mysteriously got into the coolant lines stopping its flow.
2. Last Christmas, shortly into a two week retreat at
a hermitage, the hot water heater overheats--and begins
spewing large quantities of hot water on the floor. I
call in a plumber to fix the hot water heater, as it does
this sporadically for several days. He's not sure what
happened, but ends up replacing several components to fix
the problem.
3. A month ago, on Spring Break, while driving again.
My vehicle overheats again. I take it in to be fixed.
Cooling fans and a ground need to be replaced.
4. Yesterday morning, after I finished studying the last
amount of material I need to study for the exam next week,
I return home. The temperature in my apartment starts rising.
It's 75. I turn the heat down to 60. The heat continues to
rise. I turn the heat OFF. I open windows. I try to go to sleep.
I get up today and the temperature is 85!!! I call the
maintenance guy. He can't figure out what the problem is.
Everything seems to be working, except with the temperature
off, heat continues to pour from my radiators. For lack
off any other idea, he goes to the boiler and shuts off
the pipes that carry heat to my apartment. So in other
words, I should get NO HEAT whatsoever. He returns 3 hours
later, and there is *still* heat pouring from my radiators.
His face looks white as a ghost, as he tells me in no
uncertain terms that there is no way I should be getting
any heat whatsoever. There is "no way this should be happening",
he says.
It is 30 degrees outside and I have no *official* heat in my apartment,
but here it is several hours later and it is still well above 70!
I'm starting to wonder if I'm poisoning inanimate objects
whenever I release some stress :)
(insert spooky music)
