>>My point here is that I am unsure and would question whether realization practices do transform jing at a deep level.<<

SO you are constantly contrasting 'realization practices' with your own. My own view of this is that the disjuncture between what you practice and 'realization practices' has actually been a false one all along. I would like to ask then - what do you yourself mean by 'realization practices' and have you ever done them?

In my experience still sitting can indeed reach way down into jing = ground of physical body. On the other hand, still sitting is pretty far from being the only thing I do!

Still, I'd like to have that clarified because now you seem to be suggesting that you don't quite believe what the guy in Cleary's book said - 'when it comes to mastery they are one' - that is, you say it's best left up to the masters of each school, but these guys were saying they had achieved the tao and that both schools were equally capable of it, so I guess if you believe them...?

>>Being at the stage of choosing to come back or not seems to be a high level of cultivation of free will.<<

It is, and that's why I chose the example. It shows that 'high cultivation' and 'complete dissolution of self' are not in any way the same thing. There is no limit at all, in my view, to the level of cultivation possible. I really don't believe that tao immortals just sit around, occasionally visiting Michael to beam energy into his navel! I think they are doing stuff, I think one continues to do stuff as long as one finds something to do.

Clearly egotistical *misuse* of free will is another matter, but surely it's clear - these people are continuing to use theirs as immortals, and have not dissolved their 'I' consciousness, as Bardon would say. They are free to continue as long as they wish.

>>I was referring to the fragmented shen reorganizing themselves and coming back to physicality in a different configuration (different person) to try and resolve their issues again because it couldn't be done before.<<

Yes I know that's what you were meaning - what I was saying was, if one truly dissolves the self one has become everything whatsoever, including those shen - one is no longer separate from anything, a separate self. Clearly there will still remain plenty of other separate selves though! The universe itself will not have finished its process. You will still be part of that process since you are a part of everything.

>>Realizing that there is a distance between "our true nature" and pure physical existance does not cause a split in my view, it just accepts the distance AND proposes a solution.<<

It's interesting that you say that since I don't see this 'distance' myself... but perhaps it's not important j
