In fact, you were not making any statement about reality.
I invite you (and everybody: it is a great book) to read "On Bullshit" from Harry G. Frankfurt, which pretty much reaches the conclusion that bullshit are statements made with no link toward the truth of them. As such a bullshitter is not merely lying, but is uninterested on the actual truth of the statement he is making about reality. To his conclusion, a much more dangerous postion.
The following book: "On truth" describes why is then truth so important (spoiler: to survive!).
So to merely use a language tool to express an idea to expand the boundary of their habitual perception is not making a statement about reality. Is just making a statement for the sake of it and for the effect that is going to have on people. Exactly what Frankfurt describes as bulllshit.
BTW, the deep reason why I enter into this debate is not part of the debate itself. When I shall need you as a therapist, and I did in the past, and I can testify you are good and worth your money, I shall say so. No unrequested helps to save your ass after having said something silly.
Simiilarly the state of my anus would not change the onthological status of a claim. Merely the length of my rant.
As a friend of mine said about the game of Go:
one you put a stone on the board you don't take it off, you leave with your errors. :)
Some stones were just errors, and should be sacrificed, to keep credibility, I mean a good game
